Jorye wrote this poem in October 2006 when he was just 8 years old. Jorye had accomplished many things in his young life. He was a published poet, contributed to a local radio show, competed in the Environmental Mind Grind competition, was a top qualifier for Can Spell, was the recipient of the Haldane Elementary Citizenship Award, as well as the Spirit of Living Award sponsored by the Council for Exceptional Children. Jorye also wanted to see a cure for cancer and passionately raised funds every year for BC Children's Hospital. Jorye did not let his illness prevent him from living. Jorye lost his battle with cancer on May 24th 2008 just a week short of his 11th birthday. Jorye inspired us all to live our lives in Gratitude and we have made it our mission to spread this message to others.
